BRAZIL’S THREATENED BIRDS

     Brazil is one of the countries that has the biggest diversity of birds in the world, having 1677 species, as Helmut Sick says (“Ornitologia Brasileira, Ed. Nova Fronteira”, 1997).
     As is said in the Birdlife International, in it’s publication Key areas for threatened birds in the Neotropics (Wege and Long 1995), that mainly had as basis the book “Threatened birds of the Americas: the ICBP/IUCN Red Data Book” (Collar et al. 1992) there are 97 species of Brazilian birds threatened of extinction, which list follows bellow. In the relation there are the scientific names, the names in Portuguese and in English, in this order:
