(by Antonio Silveira)
Ponta dos Ganchos (Governador Celso Ramos)

We've been (Antonio Silveira and Gianine Luiza) to Governador Celso RamosCounty,Santa Catarina State from October 14th to 18 th, 2007, observing, studying and listing the local birds.
This checklist has the objective of providing to the birdwatcher that visits the region a reference for the birds that can be observed in the area.
Celso Ramos County is located around 50 Km to Noth Florianópolis and still got much natural areas, specially at Serra da Armação region, mountain complex in the middle of the county having around 450 meters high.
There are 31 beaches that are still desert. In the areas with human interference can be found some birds of open areas. There are common birds also as Saffron Finch (Canário-da-terra; Sicalis flaveola) and Creamy-bellied Thrush (Sabiá-branco; Turdus amaurochalinus).
The observings were done in some places of the county, in daily period, but mainly at Ponta dos Ganchos Resort area, placed between Ganchos do Meio and Ganchos de Fora beaches.
Here follows the observed birds checklist (57 species).
