    Justifications:
Despite the great extension and importance in preservation terms of the National Park Serra da Bocaina, the information published or placed to the disposal of the public on the species of birds are very little , as much of the side of the state of São Paulo how much of the state of Rio de Janeiro, that is the reason we decided to do a list of the birds observed in this unit of conservation.

    Place:
The National Park of the Serra da Bocaina with its 100.000 hectares was created in 8th of June of 1972 and if it points out in lands of the states of Rio de Janeiro and of São Paulo, in the Brazilian Southeast, enclosing the counties of Areias, Cunha, São José do Barreiro, and Ubatuba in São Paulo and the city of Parati in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
It possess great varieties of altitude, going of the coastern lowered one to mountains, having as one of its higher points Pico do Tira Chapéu, in the state of São Paulo, with 2,200m of altitude. Its vegetation is formed by the known Atlantic Bush and from 1,500 m/alt. the " famous fields of altitude " for its specific flora meet.
The place suffered to some antropic interference initiated by the activities from the farmers, with the formation of some grass, but many abandoned farms are of certain form before the creation of the park, what it decelerated the practical of the farming activity that was developing in the area, bringing environmental quality back to the place, therefore still has great areas of natural vegetation that had not been modified.
The Serra Bocaina is a complex of mounts and mountains and if it finds enters the bulk of the Serra do Mar and of Mantiqueira, having the river Mambucaba as one of the main rivers, in whose passage until the sea it forms gorgeous waterfalls.
The place chosen for the comments in the cited park is called Vale dos Veados and it is found in coordinates S 22º 48 ' 00 "; ' 37 " W 44º 37 and  1.300  m of altitude. It is a valley that is in a particular property of 700 alqueires, therefore was still not dispossessed effectively.
The Vale dos Veados is cut by the Veados River and will still count great preserved area, with a forest of araucaria (Araucaria augustifolia), being significant.
