Birding in São Paulo City

Introduction


Besides São Paulo being one of the biggest metropolis of the world, there is only about 3,56 m2 of green area per inhabitant (That are about tem million), and the worldwide recommended proportion is of 12 m2 per inhabitant.
Originally there were big areas of native vegetation in São Paulo City, characterized by the known Atlantic Wood, which was gradually being destructed because of the city’s expansion. But still considering this facts, there are some county parks and 3 State parks (Parque Estadual da Cantareira, Parque Estadual do Jaraguá, Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga), promoting to their inhabitants and visitors the opportunity of having bigger contact to nature.
               A lot of these areas have natural vegetation representative of Atlantic wood and/or recovered or still exotic vegetation, which provides habitats for a lot of birds species, making them as not only a leisure place, but also a place for observing nature itself.
Birds' observing is a healthy, educative and relaxing activity, because people can spend some time amusing with nature. Besides it can become an activity capable of giving the opportunity of people who are interested in environmental preservation becoming
So, we have decided to show São Paulo's State and County Parks, with some observations in some of them.
