The trogons are birds of great beauty, because they have a rich and colorful plumage with a rare color combination.
They are medium birds that live in forested areas, where they feed of caterpillars, cicadas, spiders and small insects that they take in the foliage, in a certain flight. They also eat fruits, which they take in the forest a coconut and inhaúba fruit.
Their nests are in holes that they make in arboricle termitary, mainly.
In these family there are also the famous quetzal, birds of great beauty because of their long tail and that live in Central America.
In relation to the genus trogon, there are 9 species and a sub-specie in Brazil.
