Manatees (Sirenia; Trichechidae)
The family Trichechidae is composed by a genus and three species:
Amazonian manatee; Trichechus inunguis
West Indian manatee; Trichechus manatus
West African manatee; Trichechus senegalensis
In Brazil there is only Trichechus inunguis that is distributed around Marajó Island, Amazon River estuary and Atlantic coast.
