BIRDS
AVIFAUNA FROM PRAIA DO ROSA (IMBITUBA-SC)
![]()
This list, although doesn't showing all the species that exist at this place because it was prepared in a quickly visit, has as a finality proposing for birder that visits the place a reference of the most found birds there.
The observing were done by Antônio Silveira R. dos Santos (birdwatcher) at day, (mainly between 7:00 and 19:00), using binnacles 8x30, at the areas of Pousada Vida, Sol and Mar, so there isn't the list of night birds as owls and beach birds.
The lack of technical data relative to the local flora makes difficult its precise classification.
The local has been suffering antropic interference started by the agricultural activities of the antique population and nowadays by the touristic flux, building summer houses and inns, existing also some parts containing paste, but there still are some native vegetation there, representing around 40% of the area, mainly at the south and north coasts of the beach, places where there are living some species of Specked Chachalaca (Ortalis guttata).
Interesting noticing that some observed species as Black-tailed Tityra (Tityra cayana;) and Green-headed Tanager (Tangara seledon;) are characteristic representants of wood, but can be seen at this beach, although in a small number.
The House sparrow (Passer domesticus) is also at the area, because the houses that exist at these areas and the most common sylvester birds that were observed the Saffron Finch (Sicalis flaveol).
The Praia do Rosa is a place where surfers and whale watchers look a lot for, because it is one of the mainly reduces for Franca Whale reproduction. In this incursion we have already observed 72 birds' species.
