BIRDS

Toucans and Araçaris of Brasil
Ramphastidae

The finality of this work is providing to the birder some information and "hints" about toucans and araçaris, that as time goes by are being rarer to be found because of the destruction of its habitat (forests and scrub).
Toucans and araçaris area easily recognized by the public in general by a singular and unmistakable characteristic: the enormous beak; that besides being strong, is too sensible, being of bid efficiency, which can also work with small fruits, showing big skill of this bird.
They are birds that feed from fruits and also meet, because they like to eat eggs and youngs form another birds. They are fearsome "nest pillagers". When they attack a colon of Cacicus haemorrous, they just stop eating its eggs and youngs when they cannot eat anything more, providing big destruction.
They nest in trees empties, termites place etc. which normally had been done by another birds as woodpeckers, where they put round and white eggs.
To the birders two characteristics of this bird help for its identification: the big beak and the straight flight with the wings' inserted moving with a quickly stop, returning fast.
Different from araçaris that are smaller, toucans are used to doing big paths when they are in flights looking for perching or feeding.
