ECOLOGICAL TRIPS

ESTRADA SALESÓPOLIS-CARAGUATATUBA- SP

Recently, a group of the Environmental Program: The Last Noah's Ark, composed by Antônio Silveira and Eduardo Bittar, went to a recognizing trip of the scenic potential of the road between Salesópolis and Caraguatatuba, in São Paulo State, using a 4x4 vehicle.
This is a land road, having around 80 Km, that starts in Salesópolis County in the high area of Serra do Mar, in the Núcleo Caraguatatuba, and finishing in Caraguatatuba City, in São Paulo's coast. In almost all of the trip, in the part which goes down to the coast, the road follows a river with a lot of waterfalls.
There were evidenced the existence of a lot of excellent places for the practice of the landscape watching.
There are almost not habitation and human movement in the biggest part of its extension, providing the necessary silence for nature observer. The avifauna is also really rich in almost all the road extension, hearing to the Procnis nudicollis vocalization, being an interesting area also for birding, and it deserves more studies.
The potential of the region for these ways of leisure is excellent.
